Rice, Brown, Quick
Brown rice is preferable to white rice because it is a whole grain. Because the bran is part of brown rice, there is more nutrition present. White rice is simply brown rice with the bran removed, followed by polishing to make it processed. Brown rice, like other whole grains, has been found to reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease and rectal cancer. An obesity study conducted at the Harvard School of Public Health showed women who consume more whole grains like brown rice weigh less than women who consumed fewer.
Quick brown rice is less heavy in texture than regular brown rice and cooks up in one third of the time (approximately 7-10 minutes).
